Heading Into the Desert - June 27, 2010
Join us on our journey!
Seven Broadstreeters leave Columbus today, heading for Tucson, Arizona where we will be spending time living with and learning about the highly charged issue of immigration in our country.
Call it God, but even before SB1070 was passed by the Arizona General Assembly, implementing incredibly strong anti-immigration legislation, we were planning on going. So now we leave, hoping to put some names and faces on this "issue" that seems to have so many charged with anger.
We plan on visiting with the Border Patrol, spending time in shelters housing immigrants, working with children at a community center, and working with a local Presbyterian church who is trying to answer God's call to "welcome the stranger...the sojourner within your gates".
Pray for us and take time to read this blog. We hope you will gain knowledge as we do and share in our passion when we return.
Peace to you all!
