Music Sunday, Dec. 11, to Feature "Wonder Tidings: A Cantata for Christmas"

December 04, 2016
On Sunday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m., the Broad Street Choir will present Stephen Main's “Wonder Tidings,” a delightful Christmas work for choir, soloists, and chamber orchestra, including flute, oboe, French horn, cello, harp, organ, and percussion. This work won the John Ness Beck prize for choral writing.

The Narthex Christmas Tree

Every Advent we look forward to the gorgeous Christmas tree in the church Narthex.  Children especially enjoy searching the branches for the hidden pickle, a German tradition.  We may have come to take the arrival of the tree for granted. 

Every Monday after Thanksgiving, Terry Sherburn begins construction of the tree, just as he has done for the last 25 years.

COMPASS Christmas 2016

On Tuesday, December 13, COMPASS will transform Palmer Hall into a Christmas Store. The store will enable 50 families in need to purchase affordable gifts for family and friends. Participants include families from Broad Street Afterschool, the Food Pantry, Columbus Early Learning Center, and a local McDonalds restaurant.

Fair Trade Sundays and Marion Medical Mission Calendars

Buy great holiday stocking stuffers and holiday baking ingredients from our selection of Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate, and more in the Narthex.  When you buy fair trade from BSPC, small farmers benefit from fair wages and community relationships.  Profits made at the end of the year are sent to our mission partners in DR of Congo for fistula surgeries.

2016 Early Thanksgiving Community Dinner

December 04, 2016

“You tell the people who made this meal, it is the best ever,” is feedback from one of the 180 community guests who, with about 70 volunteers, enjoyed the delicious and bountiful meal served at the sixth BSPC Early Thanksgiving Dinner on November 22. In addition, many guests also took home leftovers, almost 90 meals and many desserts.
