Third Thursday Legal Clinic

The Third Thursday Legal Clinic continues to serve Central Ohio neighbors the third Thursday of each month (except for December) from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the COMPASS offices at Broad Street Presbyterian Church. During clinic evenings, attorneys are available to consult with clients who qualify for free legal help based on income guidelines. Volunteers and an intake specialist assist clients with issues such as tenant rights, consumer rights and domestic issues, offering advice in an attempt to address or resolve clients’ legal problems. Clients who need more comprehensive legal services are sometimes referred to the Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC) or organizations where they can secure more comprehensive legal help.

If you are an attorney who is interested in volunteering for TTLC, please contact ministries@bspc.org.  If you need information regarding other church-based clinics supported by LASC, or want to check to see if you qualify for services under LASC income guidelines, please visit the LASC website or call (614) 241-2001 (888-246-4420 toll free).

Columbus Children’s Choir

The Columbus Children’s Choir was established in 1996 after becoming an independent choir apart from our previous parent, The Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Now in our 18th season, we continue to operate as a not-for-profit children’s choral program comprised of the finest young singers in Columbus and Central Ohio. Through six choirs, CCC consistently works to accomplish the goals of its newly updated mission: fostering the personal growth of children through meaningful experiences in music education and vocal performance.

CCC provides an excellent opportunity for students in the Columbus and central Ohio area to pursue music at a higher level than what is otherwise available in their local schools. The organization remains committed to offering more than 200 singers from around Ohio high quality music education and performance experiences, at local, national, and international venues.

Local Matters

Local Matters is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire action because food affects the quality of our health, our land and our communities. As an organization, we educate children and adults about what healthful food is, where it comes from, how to grow it and how to cook it. We take a leadership role in identifying systemic issues and connecting with partners to share resources for greater impact. We inspire people to consider the impact of our current food system, and work with neighborhoods to build capacity to create opportunities for our communities to feed themselves and eat well. Broad Street Presbyterian Church is proud to have Local Matters as a neighbor and values the work that Local Matters does in our community.

Local Matters currently offers three core programs: Food Matters, Cooking Matters, and Growing Matters. Food Matters provides healthful food education to children and families. Cooking Matters provides cooking and nutrition education to adults and children to help them prepare affordable, healthy meals for their families. Growing Matters teaches community members to grow healthful and delicious foods in their own yards. With each of our programs, we strive to educate about local foods, nutrition, cooking, and growing; improve access to fresh and local foods and existing community resources; and engage in community-organizing projects to inspire greater involvement in a healthier food system for all.
