Mission Statement Broad Street Presbyterian Church Our congregation is a growing and changing metropolitan community of faith, founded upon and nourished by the grace and forgiveness of God. We are called together to seek God's will and to comfort, nurture and challenge people. We are part of the multitude of women, men, and children named the Body of Christ, joined by our reformed tradition to those in all times and places who have heard God's call. We trust the teaching of the Bible. We proclaim and hear the Word of God through preaching, teaching, and music. We find the presence of God in worship, in prayer, in the sacrament, and in our life together in the world. We strive to be a stronger, more loving Christian community in which all people are welcomed and cherished. We listen to each other. As a community of faith, we are blessed with many gifts. All we have -- life itself, the bounty of family and friends, our material possessions, our talents and energy -- are gifts of grace. We must respond to these gifts as stewards, with commitment, praise and thanksgiving. We commit ourselves to make our material resources an offering to God, giving as we have received. In devoting our time and talents, we realize the love of God that gives us life. We belong to the continuing witness to God's love and forgiveness in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We share in the gift of healing that God's grace offers to a broken world. We treasure our kinship with all people as a gift from God. We seek to act faithfully in giving and sharing, in compassion, and in learning from all of God's children. God calls us, as witness, to serve: In our congregation – to provide for worship, education, fellowship and care of its people; to challenge and inspire members to serve God, the church and humanity; to welcome and encourage new members to join in the life and leadership of the church;
to listen to the voices of people who live around the church and in the greater Columbus community; to commit the resources of this congregation, joined together in Christ's compassion and love; to feed, clothe, shelter, and nurture our neighbors in need;
to share the Good News with people in the metropolitan area; to invite participation in the mission of the congregation; to witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in ways that are appropriate in a state capital community;
to enlarge our vision of and commitment to the mission of Jesus Christ through the Presbyterian Church (USA) and other bodies devoted to the work of Christ.
