Shoes for Sole Care Campaign: September 10 through October 8

September 01, 2017

Neighborhood Ministries Council & Broadstreeter Dottie Odrosky, RN, FCN is asking the congregation to join with them in donating new or gently used shoes. Dottie is one of several Central Ohio Faith Community Nurses who provide foot care for homeless men and women. The volunteer nurses soak feet, cut and file toenails, pare down calluses, massage feet with lotion, provide new socks and, with permission, ask for God’s blessings for the individual being served. After providing the service for several months, it became apparent shoes that can support a lot of walking were also needed. As one man said, while pointing to his well-worn shoes, “These are my transportation.” Please donate practical shoes for adults; place them in the box labeled “Shoes for Sole Care” in the Narthex, Sunday, September 10 through Sunday, October 8. Men’s and women’s shoes of all sizes are welcome, but, please, no dress shoes or children’s shoes.
